What Are Subjects?

Subjects are the people, vehicles, locations, items, and businesses connected to a CaseWyze case. Use subject records to keep identifying details, notes, and connections organized in one place.

Subject categories and types

  • People: individuals involved in the case.
  • Vehicles: cars, trucks, and other vehicles.
  • Locations: residences, workplaces, and incident locations.
  • Items: property, devices, and other objects.
  • Businesses: companies and other organizations involved in the case.

Your organization can define more specific subject types within these categories. The case type determines which categories and types are available.

Finding subjects

Open a case and select Subjects to browse its subject records. The main Subjects page lets authorized users search across cases they can access.

Primary and pinned subjects

The Primary Subject is the main subject of a case. A case has one primary subject. To change it, open another subject and select Set Primary, where available.

Pinning makes important subjects easier to find on the case Info tab. A pinned subject does not automatically become the primary subject.

Relationships

Use Linked Entities to record connections between subjects on the same case. The Subject Relationship Matrix displays these saved connections as a visual graph.

Note: Subject visibility and available actions depend on your permissions and access to the case.
