What Are Attachments?

Attachments keep supporting documents, photos, recordings, and evidence connected to a case. Open a case's Attachments tab to manage them.

Two ways to add an attachment

  • Upload a file: store a copy in CaseWyze. Uploaded files can support previews, file hashes, metadata, versions, and evidence exports.
  • Save an external link: keep the file in Google Drive, OneDrive, SharePoint, Dropbox, Box, iCloud, or another cloud service and save its HTTPS link in CaseWyze.

An external link stores a reference and descriptive information. It does not upload, synchronize, or preserve the contents of the outside file.

Choose the right method

Use a cloud link when the live document should stay with its provider. Upload a downloaded or exported copy when you need a preserved file in CaseWyze. You can keep a live link and a separately uploaded snapshot, naming each clearly.

Attachments and updates

An update can link to existing case attachments or upload new ones. The attachment remains a case record and can also support a specific update.

Access

Visibility depends on case access, attachment permissions, and the attachment's Visibility Access Group. External files also require permission from their cloud provider.
