What Are Activities, Tasks, and Events?

Activities organize planned work on a CaseWyze case. Every activity is either a task or an event.

Tasks

A task is work to complete, usually by a due date. Examples include reviewing records, contacting a witness, or preparing a report. A task can have an assignee, status, reminder, and optional service link.

Events

An event is scheduled work with a start and end date and time. Examples include an interview, site visit, or surveillance assignment. Events can include an address and an assignee.

Where to work with activities

  • Activities: manage tasks and events across cases you can access.
  • Calendar: review scheduled events and due-date tasks.
  • Case Activities and Calendar tabs: focus on one case.
  • Activity detail page: review the schedule, assignment, linked updates, and related billing entries.

Activities and updates

An activity describes planned work. An update documents what happened. Link an update to the activity when recording results, then add any time and expenses separately.

Note: Access and available actions depend on your role, case access, and case status.
