Understanding Dashboard Financial Widgets

Financial widgets help authorized users identify billing and expense work that needs attention. Their totals reflect the financial records available to your role and scope.

Financial widget guide

  • Billing Snapshot: Client Retainers, Outstanding Expenses, and Unpaid Invoices where permitted.
  • Recent Expenses: recently submitted time and expense entries.
  • AR Aging: unpaid invoice balances grouped into aging buckets. AR means accounts receivable.
  • Unbilled WIP: approved time and expense value not yet invoiced. WIP means work in progress.
  • Retainer Risk: low or missing retainers associated with active work.

Investigate a total

  1. Read the widget label, scope, and any bucket labels.
  2. Use a linked total or row to open its related work list when available.
  3. Review the included statuses, dates, payments, and individual records.
  4. Use the relevant billing or expense workflow to take action.

Keep financial categories separate

A retainer balance, an unpaid invoice, and an expense represent different things. Do not add all dashboard amounts together as revenue or cash available. A case budget is an authorization for work, not the same as an invoice or retainer.

Why totals can differ

Compare permissions, record scope, statuses, dates, and snapshot timing when reconciling a widget with another page. For detailed analysis, open an authorized report in Data & Analytics. Dashboard access alone does not grant financial access.
