Understanding Case Reports and Templates

CaseWyze generates case reports from Word .docx templates. A template defines the layout and contains placeholders that CaseWyze replaces with permitted case data.

The reporting workflow

  1. Choose a built-in template or prepare a custom Word template.
  2. Upload, test, and activate a custom template.
  3. Open a case's Reports tab and select the template.
  4. Review timeline and evidence options, then generate the report.
  5. Open the downloaded document, check its contents and formatting, and deliver the reviewed version through your approved process.

Template versus generated report

The template is reusable. A generated report is a saved snapshot of a particular case at generation time. Later changes to the case or template do not update a previously generated file.

Separate reporting tools

Summary PDF produces a configurable browser summary. Analytics reports, list exports, invoice PDFs, and import templates are separate workflows. They are not interchangeable with DOCX case reports.

AI is optional

Normal template-based report generation does not require AI. Any optional AI assistance elsewhere in CaseWyze requires your organization's own API key; you can prepare and generate reports without it.
