Troubleshooting Settings Access and Save Errors

A missing setting or disabled button can reflect access rules, incomplete loading, a validation issue, or a dependency on existing records.

Check access

  1. Confirm the correct workspace and signed-in account.
  2. Clear the Settings search so it is not hiding the section.
  3. Confirm whether Full Access is required.
  4. Review the specific permission for the section and the action.
  5. Check MFA, account status, and feature availability.

Full Access does not automatically grant every management permission. A person who can view Billing may still be unable to change the subscription. An account that can open Email & Notifications may only be able to change personal notifications.

Check the save workflow

Complete required fields, correct validation errors, and use the save control for the relevant card. Payroll settings, invoice reminders, email templates, AI preferences, and other sections have independent saves. Wait for the success message. If another administrator changed the same policy, reload and review current values before retrying.

Deletion or editing is blocked

Used configuration may be protected: subject types are deactivated rather than deleted, tax components used on invoices are locked, and access groups or statuses can have linked records. Use the supported retirement workflow instead of trying to bypass the restriction.

Get help

Record the Settings section, action attempted, error text, and time. Include a screenshot with secrets and sensitive identifiers hidden. Never share API keys, client secrets, SCIM tokens, or full payment details in a support request.
