Replacing Files and Using Version History

Use file replacement when you want a revised file to remain part of the same uploaded attachment record.

Add a new version

  1. Open the attachment's actions menu and select Edit.
  2. Under Details, use Replace File (creates a new version).
  3. Choose the revised supported file.
  4. Add a Version note explaining the change where appropriate.
  5. Review any duplicate or replacement confirmation, then save.
  6. Confirm the current attachment and Version History reflect the revision.

Review or restore a version

In Edit Attachment, open Version History. Use Compare to review file name, size, and SHA-256 differences; this is not a document-text redline. Use Restore when authorized and review the confirmation before making an earlier file the latest revision.

Secure share links for an uploaded attachment reference the attachment record and use its latest available version. Consider existing recipients before replacing or restoring a file.

External attachments do not support uploaded-file Version History. Their source provider manages any versions. To preserve a cloud file in CaseWyze, export or download it and upload a separate file attachment.
