Reopening a Case and Understanding Related Cases

Reopening creates a new case instance. It does not simply unlock the original closed record.

Reopen a case

  1. Open the case you intend to reopen.
  2. Select Reopen Case when it is available.
  3. Review the new case number shown in the confirmation. It uses the case series with a new instance suffix.
  4. Confirm with Reopen Case.
  5. Review the new case's details, copied subjects, and team before adding work.

The workflow copies subjects and case assignments into the new instance. Do not assume all historical updates, files, reports, or financial work were duplicated. Consult the original instance for its history.

The Related Cases section links other instances in the case series. Open the appropriate instance to review the work recorded there.

Requirements and incomplete steps

Reopening requires a reopenable status and permissions including Reopen Cases, Add Cases, Assign/Unassign Case Users, and Full Access. Copying subjects also requires subject creation permission.

If CaseWyze says the new case was saved but some steps are incomplete, inspect that new case and resolve the reported items before trying again. Avoid creating an additional instance accidentally.
