Planning Case Work and Reviewing the Timeline

Activities describe work to do; updates document what happened. Use both to maintain a useful case history.

Plan work

  1. Open the case's Activities tab.
  2. Add a task for work to complete, or an event for work scheduled at a date and time.
  3. Set the assignee, relevant dates, calendar, and reminder.
  4. Review scheduled events in Calendar and track task progress in Activities.

Record the result

Create a linked update after the work and attach supporting materials where appropriate. Record time and expenses through the financial workflow. Marking an activity complete does not by itself document findings or bill the client.

Review the case timeline

Open Timeline to review chronological case activity assembled from the records you may access. Use it to understand the sequence of work, then open the relevant source record for full details where offered.

The case Timeline is distinct from a chronological activity timeline entered inside an individual update. Your role and access groups can affect which records are visible.

Further instructions

The Activities topic covers task and event creation, status, reminders, daily briefings, calendar fulfillment, and calendar exports.
