Managing Subjects, Updates, and Evidence on a Case

Use the case tabs to keep investigation information attached to the correct record.

Subjects

Open Subjects to add and manage the people, businesses, vehicles, locations, and items involved. The creation wizard requires at least one primary subject. Use subject links and the relationship matrix to describe connections where available. See the Subjects topic for detailed instructions.

Updates

Open Updates to record observations, work performed, and results. Review date and time information, attachments, and access settings before saving. Use chronological views and update timelines to follow the sequence of work. See the Updates topic for step-by-step guides.

Attachments

Open Attachments to organize case files and external links, use folders, review metadata, and access permitted previews or sharing controls. Confirm the destination case before uploading and review access before sharing.

Visibility matters

Access groups can restrict individual updates and attachments. A teammate who can open the case may still be unable to see a particular record.

Optional AI

AI is completely optional. Case work and manual documentation do not require AI. AI-assisted summaries require your organization's own OpenAI API key. Your data remains yours; material submitted for AI processing is handled under the provider's terms and account settings. Using your own key is not a promise of zero retention.
