Managing Document and Report Templates in Settings

Open Settings > Templates. This area requires Full Access plus View Report Templates or Manage Report Templates.

Templates provide reusable structures for case reports. Viewing templates and managing them are distinct permissions.

Prepare a template

  1. Create the document layout in a supported .docx file.
  2. Use the supported variable names, repeating sections, and image placeholders shown by the template tools.
  3. Upload the file and complete its descriptive settings.
  4. Review validation results and correct unsupported or invalid placeholders.

Test before activation

A custom upload starts as a draft. Use Template Health > Run Test to generate and inspect representative output. Check missing values, tables, repeating content, images, page breaks, headers, and footers. Resolve blocking issues, then activate the template through the available control.

Control availability

Active templates can be limited by the Report Templates selection under Case Types. With no template restriction selected, all active templates are allowed for that type. A missing template may therefore reflect draft/inactive state, permissions, or case-type restrictions.

Use in a case

Open the case's Reports tab, choose an available template, configure the offered options, and generate the report. Review the generated document before sharing it. Template generation does not require AI.

For detailed document-building, variable, testing, and case-generation instructions, see the Reports topic.
