A case type classifies the investigation and determines important defaults. Services describe the work being performed.
Select the case type at the start of the new-case wizard. It can control reference labels, due date requirements, budget fields, allowed services, subject types, and report templates.
Use the wizard's Services step or the case's service controls where available. Select the services appropriate to the case. A case type may restrict the available choices.
Service classification supports billing and budget context. It does not by itself record time, create an expense, or issue an invoice. Client billing rates and staff pay rates are configured separately.
The case type cannot be changed after billing has started.
Ask an authorized administrator to check the active services and the case type's allowed services, subject types, and templates. These settings are managed under Settings and require Full Access and Manage Settings.
