Managing Case Territories

Open Settings > Case Territory. This area requires Full Access and Manage Settings.

Territories provide consistent regional labels for case organization and reporting.

Create a territory

  1. Select the new-territory action.
  2. Enter a required Name that staff can recognize.
  3. Add an optional Reference ID for a lookup code.
  4. Add Notes describing coverage or intended use.
  5. Choose whether to set it as the default case territory.
  6. Save the territory and any pending page changes shown by the interface.

Default selection

Setting a territory as the default clears the previous default. The default helps standardize starting selections; verify the territory on each case rather than assuming it is correct for every assignment.

Manage the list

Use the Default-only or Non-default-only filter to review configuration. Edit a territory from its row menu. Individual deletion and Delete Selected remove selected configuration entries; review the affected list before using a bulk action.

What territories do not do

A territory label does not by itself assign an investigator, grant record access, or schedule work. Use case assignments, roles, and calendars for those purposes. Review existing case reporting before renaming or removing commonly used territory labels.
