Editing Case Details, Clients, and Reference Fields

Keep the case's identifying information and instructions current. Editing requires the appropriate case permissions and an editable case status.

Edit a case

  1. Open the case and review its Info tab.
  2. Use the case actions menu to open the edit form.
  3. Update the relevant fields, such as title, objective, territory, related account, related contact, references, or due date.
  4. Review any validation or case-type change warnings.
  5. Select Update Case, then verify the saved details.

Client and contact relationships

The related account identifies the client organization; the related contact identifies a person associated with the case. Review both when correcting client information. Case team assignments are managed separately.

Seeing a case does not automatically grant permission to open every account or contact record. Client-related access is also subject to relationship and role rules.

Titles and references

The creation wizard derives the title from the primary subject. The edit form can offer a primary-subject title option. Reference labels are configured by case type, such as a claim or policy reference.

Check Edit Cases permission, case status, and any field-specific restrictions. Once billing has started, the case type is locked.
