Creating Your First Report Template in Word

Create a reusable report layout in Word, then let CaseWyze populate its supported placeholders from each case.

Plan the report

Decide who will read it and which sections they need: case identification, client details, subjects, findings or updates, activities, and an evidence index. Include only information appropriate for that audience.

Build the document

  1. Create a Word document or download an existing template as a starting point.
  2. Add your headings, static instructions, page layout, tables, headers, and footer text.
  3. Open Settings > Templates > View Variables in CaseWyze.
  4. Copy supported placeholders into the places where case data belongs.
  5. Use Word Sections for ready-made tables, image placeholders, or optional sections.
  6. Save a genuine .docx file of 10 MB or less.
  7. Upload the file, test it against a representative case, and activate it after reviewing the results.

A simple starting layout

Case number: {{Case.case_number}}

Case title: {{Case.title}}

Client: {{Client.name}}

Primary subject: {{Subject.full_name}}

Place a suitable update or file variable under the relevant heading. Use the variable reference to choose the output you need.

Design for real data

Leave room for long names, multiple updates, and tables spanning pages. A short test case alone may not reveal overflow or page-break problems. Keep an editable source copy of the template for future revisions.
