Configuring Case Services

Open Settings > Case Services. This area requires Full Access and Manage Settings.

Services classify work performed on cases, such as surveillance, interviews, or background checks.

Service fields

  • Service Name: required name shown in case service selectors.
  • Service Code: an optional short reference.
  • Color: visual identification.
  • Description: guidance on what the service includes.
  • Billable: makes the service eligible for billing and budget checks.
  • Active: controls whether it is available for use.

Create and maintain services

  1. Select Add Service, or edit a service.
  2. Complete its fields and save.
  3. Drag services in the table to adjust their display order.
  4. Review Allowed Services under Case Types if only certain services should be offered for a case category.

Services and rates

A service describes the work; it does not by itself define a client's billing rate or a staff member's pay rate. Those values are configured through finance items and client or staff rate settings.

Tasks can link to a case service for billing and budget context. Events do not use the same direct service field. A case type with no selected service restrictions allows all active services.

Retire a service

Deletion may be blocked when a service has already been used on a case. Deactivate it when it should no longer be offered for new work.
