Attaching Files and Supporting Materials to Updates

Link supporting case attachments to an update so readers can find the evidence or documents that support the narrative.

What can be attached?

The attachment picker supports PDFs, images, MP4/MOV/WebM videos, MP3/WAV audio, TXT and CSV files, Word documents (DOC/DOCX), Excel workbooks (XLS/XLSX), PowerPoint presentations (PPT/PPTX), and email files (EML), subject to workspace storage and upload rules. Existing external-link attachments can also appear in the picker.

  1. Add or edit an update.
  2. Find Link Case Attachments.
  3. Select the available files that belong with the update.
  4. Save the update and confirm the files appear in its Attachments section.

On a saved update, the Attachments section may also provide a Link action.

Upload a new file

Select Upload in the attachment picker when available. The uploaded file becomes a case attachment that can be linked to the update. You need View Case Attachments permission to link files and Upload/Edit Attachments permission to upload new ones.

Visibility and missing files

Attachments retain their own access rules. Linking a file does not grant every update reader permission to view or download it. If a file is missing, check that it belongs to the same case and that you can access it.

Use the unlink control in the saved update’s Attachments section when permitted. Unlinking removes the association with that update; it does not delete the case attachment.
